I was born in a small town outside of Zürich, Switzerland and grew up surrounded by forests, lakes, rivers and mountains.
Very early on I knew I wanted to be a nurse. One day, while walking to my early morning shift at the hospital during nursing school, I had a very clear understanding that there is more to life and that I needed to explore that.
My travels to India exposed me to completely different cultures, ways of thinking and led me to study meditation, Buddhism and Yoga. Also during my stay in India, I met a woman from the Bay Area with whom I fell in love with, even though I had not been with a woman before.
I relocated to the Bay Area and studied acupressure and many different types of bodywork, eventually moving into work as a hospice nurse.
I started with expressive painting at the Center for Creative Exploration in San Francisco at the beginning of 2000 and immediately fell in love with it. I knew it was the way I wanted to express myself because It was so real, so visual and it would not let me hide.
Through dreamwork and painting I have learned to question my identity professionally, sexually, and culturally. I continue to explore who I really am, recognizing where social concepts and deep held beliefs keep me small and contained and learning how to transform them.
I feel deep gratitude for the guidance from Barbara Kaufman in my painting process and for my work with Michael Regan with dreams. Both are deeply affecting and changing my life.
